1) It's lonely at the top. You WILL lose some friends. This is the same as if you put on a badge, don a foreman's white helmet, or sew on a new set of sergeant's stripes. With authority comes responsibility, and there is not much room for compromise. The buddy system will go out the window the first time someone backs you into a corner. Consider your choices BEFORE you put yourself in this position. This doesn't mean you'll have to stab everyone in the back, but when the time comes to discipline someone you consider a friend, you'll see just how hard this job can be. It's not about being popular.
2) You will be in the spotlight. Your actions will represent this site and what the Creators expect it to be, so you are going to have to temper your behavior. I've said it before: You are going to have to play nice. Depending on what you expect to get from this experience, it might just take some of the fun out of it for you. In a certain sense your hands will be tied. AND, if you screw up, it will be right there for the whole world to see.
3) The pay isn't too good. At times you'll wonder why you ever accepted this burden. You can't let it show, though, 'cause you're in the spotlight. People are looking to you for guidance, and believe it or not, protection. Accepting this slot means much more than, "WOOO, HOOO! I'm a MOD!!!"
It's more than a job it's a... thankless job.
