Generally speaking, I try to stay away from the various newstand periodicals as they are bought and paid for by the subjects of the reviews contained within,
whether these be firearm manufacturers or those who run the so-called tactical classrooms (What??? You haven't attended a carbine course??
). Sometimes
a magazine will catch my eye (SAR, SGN, etc.), and the recent issue of Combat Arms (G&A) has done just that.
I tried to find a web link, but apparenly the Guns & Ammo servers are down.
This one is worth picking up. On the cover it has the FN SCAR-L and SCAR-H.
Inside is a report from Iraq by David Fortier (yes, he actually went there). In this issue he also wrote an article entitled, "Optics in the Sand."
There is a nice review of the recent offerings from FN including the SCAR (should be available to civilians this year).
Most of us have seen the Myth Busters episode where they visit Dillon Aero... there's a nice article on them in here, too. Be sure and look for the Dillon Aero website as well (no, I'm not going to supply a link. I had to find it myself, and you should be able to handle it yourself).
The one article that caught my eye, though, was one about the USMC M-14 Designated Marksman rifle. I won't spoil it here, but suffice it for me to say that this magazine is worth picking up. This one is going into my "keepers" stack, for sure. Get yours before they are all gone.
